My wife and I recently installed solar power panels at our home. Once we've passed the inspections (city and utility) we'll be producing, on an annual average, 97% of the electricity we need to power our home. It will take us about 3-5 years to pay off the loan for the installation, but after that we'll be totally getting free electricity.

About 3 weeks ago, due to the visible daylight filtering into the basement of our "new to us" home through cracks in the exterior walls, my wife and I agreed that we needed to get an estimate on the repair of those walls.  I called a guy listed in the yellow pages, and he came right over and hit us with an estimate.
